Cristiano Ronaldo Says He Is Not Retiring From Portugal Despite Rift With Jorge Jesus ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น⚽

Cristiano Ronaldo says he will not retire from Portugal despite his dispute with Jorge Jesus, admitting he deserves punishment for leaving the nationa
Cristiano Ronaldo has made it clear that he is not ready to retire from international football, despite the latest controversy surrounding his relationship with Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus.

The 41-year-old Portugal captain has admitted that he should face punishment after leaving the national team's Nations League camp, but he insists that his decision came after what he described as a serious breakdown in trust with the coach.

Ronaldo reportedly left Portugal's camp after being left as an unused substitute during the match against Norway and subsequently learning that he would not be included in the starting lineup against Denmark.

The incident quickly attracted attention, especially because Ronaldo remains one of the biggest names in Portuguese football and continues to hold remarkable international records.

Ronaldo accepts responsibility for leaving camp

In a lengthy statement, Ronaldo acknowledged that his actions should have consequences.

The Al-Nassr forward said the Portuguese Football Federation should assess what happened and punish him accordingly.

"The Portuguese Football Federation must assess the consequences of my actions and punish me for them. I believe the punishment should not be reduced."

Ronaldo also said he had already apologised, while recognising that his actions came with consequences.

For a player who has spent years representing Portugal and wearing the captain's armband, the decision to leave the camp has naturally raised questions about his future with the national team.

However, Ronaldo says retirement is not currently part of his plans.

Ronaldo accuses Jorge Jesus of breaking his word

While accepting responsibility for his own actions, Ronaldo also explained what he believes led to the situation.

According to the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, Jorge Jesus broke his word on two occasions, which he described as an "absolute breach of trust."

Ronaldo claimed that Jesus had told him he would play against Norway but later did not select him.

He also alleged that the coach subsequently changed an agreement about how the situation would be explained publicly to the media.

Those events, according to Ronaldo, contributed to his decision to leave the camp.

Jesus has since denied that there is a major rift with his captain. He also said that the door remains open for Ronaldo to return to the Portugal squad.

Will Ronaldo continue playing for Portugal?

For now, Ronaldo's answer is clear: yes.

The legendary forward said he wants to continue representing his country as long as he remains physically fit and is playing regularly for his club.

Ronaldo has already achieved almost everything possible with Portugal. He helped the country win the 2016 European Championship and has also been part of two Nations League-winning teams.

His international numbers are equally extraordinary.

He has scored 146 goals in 234 appearances for Portugal, making him the country's all-time leading scorer as well as the men's world record holder for international goals.

At 41, the question is no longer whether Ronaldo has anything left to prove, but how long he intends to continue playing at the highest level.

For Ronaldo, however, the desire to represent Portugal appears to remain strong.

"After my suspension period ends, I will be available, as I always have been, to compete and win with our national team," he said.

A difficult moment for Portugal

The latest controversy comes at a sensitive time for Portugal, with Ronaldo's future in the national team continuing to attract huge attention.

Despite the disagreement with Jesus, Ronaldo's statement suggests that he does not view the incident as the end of his international career.

Instead, he appears prepared to accept punishment, return after his suspension and continue fighting for Portugal whenever he is selected.

Whether the relationship between Ronaldo and Jesus can return to normal remains to be seen.

But one thing is certain: Cristiano Ronaldo is not announcing his retirement from Portugal just yet. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ

For Portuguese football fans, that means the story is far from over.
